Pastels USA - 99 Voices in Pastel

As the second largest pastel society in the country, the PSWC's 99 Voices in Pastel is one of the largest exhibitions devoted to showcasing the beauty of pastel.  For the third year in a row, one of my works has been juried into this exhibition.  This year  "Ricordi di Via Vittoria" was chosen.  Please stop by! August 1st - September 8th at VEFA Gallery. Gala Opening Saturday August 8th 6-8 pm.

Featured Artist

I was honored to be the first Featured Artist of 2026 among the community of artists who follow, learn from and are coached by Marla Baggetta.  Although many of us have never met in person, this group is comprised of pastel painters who are dedicated to learning, growing, experimenting, offering helpful support and critique to each other and they are always an inspiration to me.

The Back Cover - PSWC Winter '25

How fun to be featured with my friend and PSWC Signature artist, Helen Turner, on the back cover of Pastel Society of the West Coast's Winter '25 magazine.  Helen paints in both oil and pastel and beautifully captures the incredible light, vivid florals and moody oceans of Kauai. She's has taken me to some beautiful and iconic spots on the island to paint en plein aire.  Visit her online gallery for a taste of her work and don't miss a visit to her gallery in person in Waimea if you travel to Kauai!

PSWC Featured Member Artist

It's such an honor to be a featured artist in the Pastel Society of the West Coast's Fall magazine.  The article and reproductions of my work spanned four pages, and focused particularly on painters who live abroad or travel extensively. I do want to note that the beautiful cover is by Andrew McDermott, an artist known for urban scapes - particularly rainy nocturnes like the cover.

Noe Valley Art Festival   - Sunday September 14, 2025 - 10:00 to 4:00

I'm so happy to be selected again to participate in the Noe Valley Art Festival! Bay Area friends, please drop by the Noe Valley Town Square, 24th Street between Vicksburg and Sanchez, where I'll be showing new works - including "The Fruit Basket" used by our local paper to advertise the festival - and a new line of hand lettered, gicleé print greeting cards

Pastels USA - 99 Voices in Pastel

Once again I am honored to have my work, "Bedside Garden - TeKoi" included in the show Pastels USA - 99 Voices in Pastel.  I painted this simple hydrangea from a photo I took in New Zealand in January.  TeKoi is a small resort just outside of Nelson on New Zealand's South island.  The proprietors have a lovely garden from which they gather fresh vegetables for dinner and flowers for their dining room and guest rooms; the hydrangea seemed to capture their incredible hospitality. The show will run from August 23 - November 29, 2025 at the Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University, Orange, CA.  Many thanks to juror Marla Baggetta whose work inspires and guides me every single day!

Members Only Online Show (MOOS) of the Pastel Society of the West Coast (PSWC)

I'm so pleased that my painting "The Brown Grass Ocean" was selected for inclusion in the PSWC MOOS.  Usually when I spend time at Sea Ranch - a rugged and wonderful stretch on the Northern California coast - I'm drawn to paint the spectacular cliffs and ocean waves crashing against them.  In August, however, looking out my window all I could see was an ocean of grass and I was attracted to those undulating brown waves. Judge Richard McKinley did a terrific job as judge; there were so many amazing paintings in the show. Do yourself a favor and have a look!  https://pswc.ws/moos-2025-2/

Noe Valley Art Festival - September 22, 2024

My deepest thanks to the Friends of Noe Valley for organizing a very successful Art Festival and to the art patrons who purchased 12 of my original paintings and many hand-lettered art cards.  It was a great experience for me and I hope to be invited back next year!
